Wow!! I'm so glad to see that so many researchers are confronted with this situation. I didn't find out until I was a grown man, that a few of my first cousins were not blood related. I still include them in my tree as blood relation because to me they are. Now if someone was to ask me I would tell it like it is. My G-Uncle Field did not have any children but he married a woman with 3. I knew they were not his after asking my older cousins, but he raised them. What was funny, is when I did our family tree book for our reunion, i just listed the 3 children as belonging to Uncle Field. While I was visiting his 88 year old niece, who knew him very well said, " I dont know who put this on this paper but Uncle Field did'nt have no chillins.... Aunt Becky already had them when they got married...they need to fix that". I didn't say anything.
