Re: Witherspoon Cemetery (Black)
In Response To: Re: Witherspoon Cemetery (Black) ()
I took your advice and search and search until I found the funeral home that had my great grandfather's body. Unfortunately, the undertaker in charge at that time did not provide a death certificate to the state and there was not a copy in his file. The funeral director told me the only thing in my great grandfather's file was a sheet of paper that listed the cost of his burial which was $150.00.
This was a family owned funeral home. Because of their neglect to create one, the funeral director there today found my great grandmother's burial information and gave me this information free of charge because of the mistake his ancestors made back then. He also apologized. Now, I have all of my great grandmother's history, but still trying to find information on my great grandfather. I went to the church where he was buried and found his grave. It only had his date of birth and the date he died. I also discovered that the church did not keep burial records before 1950. I am still hitting brick walls trying to find the history on my great grandfather. I wanted to share this with you and thank you for encouraging me to continue. Because of this, I was able to connect to my great grandmother's history.
Thanks again for your advice.
