When Family Finds Hurt Those Around

I know it isn't cool to totally have a melt down, but I need some advice. I need to know if I need to just stop the research on my mom's side of the family, continue with the research and just not tell anyone, or continue with the research and share this info with my mom?????

Here is the synopsis , of sorts. :) Some of you may remember that about 1 year ago, maybe a bit longer, I exposed some truths about my mom's family. My mom was told her mother (my grandmother) died in childbirth with her. I found out that my mom was almost 2 years old when her mother died of Pulmonary TB. I also discovered that my mother's white father may have been the town sheriff..... I guess I should go back and say that my grandmother was 15 when she died, 13 when she had my mother! You probably understand the ........ slight issue. Anyway, my mom's unlce, and cousins have now made it their mission to keep information from me and my mother.

Ok, fast forward a bit - My mom went back to her birthplace this weekend for the first time in almost 40 years. She tried to find her grandfather's grave - the head stone has been removed. I think her mother was buried close by, but I can't prove that -- my mom just wants to know where her mother is buried. Anyway, my mom is now feeling the full brunt of the consequences of my finds. Her uncle has pretty much wrote my mom and I out of the "family." I think this turn of events is wearing on my mom - I have thick skin and really don't give a hoot what my uncle and cousins say about me. It holds no value because they have proven they are not trustworthy ---- but my mom........ Anyway, how do you handle these situations. Do I just stop the research, continue with the research and just not tell anyone, or continue with the research and share this info with my mom?????
