Thank you so much for your generous effort in searching for, and locating, pre-Civil War free African American miners in Pennsylvania. This discovery is growing more exciting by the day and is a real milestone for research on this topic. I cannot wait to get to PA this summer and search the records of those counties in that southwestern area. I have a relative near Pittsburgh, in Monroeville, and plan to put in considerable research time in PA & OH, since I will be free of lodging expenses!

I am going to forward this info on to a gentleman who conducts tours of an old mine in the state that is lacking material on the AA coal mining experience there. Also, I will update my webpage on the history of AA miners to reflect this significant relevation.
