Re: Witherspoon Cemetery (Black)

In 1870 Lancaster County there were 2 Shepherd) WILTHERSPOONS...

Cane Creek Twp, sheet 17
WITHERSPOON, James, 23, farm labor, SC
Jane, 21
Prisilla, 04
Shepard, 03
Harriet, 01

Cane Creek Twp., sheet 13-14
WITHERSPOON, Richd., 30, SC
Caroline, 26,
Cap??, 20
Fannie, 18
William, 15
Allen, 14
Jos., 13
Martha, 12
Juda, 10
Joanna, 08
Mary Jane, 01
Shepherd, 10
Ellen, 08
Georgianna, 06
Robert, 03

Also on sheet 23 was a William WITHERSPOON, age 21, parents R. and Dorcas WITHERSPOON...no Shep or Nancy in household

On sheet 22 Cane Creek, I found a Nancy and Will sister & brother in following household...no Shepherd/Shep...

WITHERSPOON, Rose, 40
Reese, 23
Mariah, 16
Nancy, 12
Will, 03
Joseph, 01
next door was:
Thomas, 26
Rose, 24

Found 1 Shepherd in 1900 Cane Creek, Sheet 6A

WITHERSPOON, Shep, 25, Jan 1875, 25, married 3 years
Ella, Mar 1882, 18, 2 children 1 living
infant, son, May 1900, 0 months
INGRAM, Jake, Father-in-Law, Feb 1840, 60, Widowed

not sure which family this Shep belongs to...as his age hardly matches the 2 Shephers from above. Couldn't find him in 1910 or 1920 Lancaster County.

Hope this helps

Vera
