You comments about relatives have helped me but raises another question.

Patty is a name that I am trying to trace. She appears on the Midlo Hall Afro-Louisiana data base. She was sold with the instructions that she could pay her new master a certain sum and then freed. Then she disappears. She may be an ancestor, but I am not sure.

Patty, Patricia,Petit, now suggested name of Martha? can you add more names?

The other name is Delia. She was my great great grandmother from Florida. I have searched under ever spelling, Adela Adelaida Adele...used advanced search in Heritage searched for all females in Florida , then trying a search by color, then by the various spellings and finally by age. She was born in 1826. Nada. My great great grandfather's will only refers to her as Delia. I did find a name Diglia who could have been her mother. So I checked the Spanish name of Migdalia. Nada.

I even checked Mary and Maria since many women had Mary in their name..

So any suggestions would be appreciated. I am doing this search long distance so running to the archives or court records is not an option. Any ideas?
