Before you PAY for any be sure to check what is available at your local library. Visit and check out what the Family History /Genealogy Department has available for use free there.(If you just call, th eperson at the reception desk may not have a clue.)

In the St Louis County (MO) Library there are computers to use to search Ancestry and Heritage Quest, and you login to Heritage Quest from your home computer. They also have hundreds of CDs and the "old-fashioned" microfilm. So be sure to check out the local facilities first and get to know YOUR library.
