Hi Tim, My PANGBURN ancestors lived in the southwest corner of PA (Allegheny County) from at least 1830 on. Some of the descendants of Moses PANGBURN, my great-great-grandfather, were miners as early as 1860 based on information gleaned from the U.S. Census. According to the 1920 Census, my grandfather, Samuel PANGBURN, who was then living in Pittsburgh, PA, was a miners' representative for a miners union. I know little else about him, as he died when my mother was a toddler. Hence, I perused your site with great interest. I did notice that the PANGBURN men tended to marry women who were born in Virginia, and I've wondered why. Perhaps they were originally from the coal mining areas of that state. hmmmm Thank you for the information. Regards,
