Re: Michele Bachmann Thinks Slavery Times Were Bet

I re-read you post so your concern with the statement is that it is a political tool. So would you have been okay if they would have left out reference to President Obama? Or what if a civil rights leaders, clergy, or public figure of African descent made the statement?

And if the Republican Party does not care about the plight of the African American families, what has the Democratic Party or any political party done recently to address the issues?

I am only asking since you brought it up. And to be honest, I do not believe it is the responsibility of any political party to address the social need that are impacting the African American families. It is our responsibility to address these issues. The statement in the petition should be used as a springboard to have serious dialogue and develop strategies within our religious institutions, schools, civic organizations, communities, etc.
