Dear Afrigeneas Family,

I have been a member of the Afrigeneas family since its inception in 1999. It’s the best site for researching African American ancestry. I was “shocked” yesterday (Thursday, 5/19/11), when I saw an ad asking folks to vote against ‘Same Sex Marriage.” What in the world does that issue has to do with researching our ancestors?? I thought Afrigeneas was non-sectarian and a-political?? I personally consider that ad inappropriate, and this site should not be voicing an opinion about how someone should vote, on any issue.

We all have personal opinions, but someone’s personal opinion should not be plastered across Afrigeneas web site, at any cost?? I can’t tell you how to run you web site, but please consider removing it. You will alienate many people, or lose members because it.
