I don't think your post is the one that I was referring to when I said that someone had stated that "Indians were sometimes enslaved."

I don't recall whose it was.

However, you make a good point when you say that they had tried at some point in history, to enslave the indigenous of the Caribbean (Puerto Rico, Dom. Republic, etc.0......and that they died from the work.

Perhaps that was the historical point in time when the European monarchs (namely Queen Isabella), began to specifically ban their enslavement,...forcing them to turn to Africa for free labor.
