My 76 year old white father (born in 36) has a huge man crush on Joe. Dad was a boxer in his younger years and swore Joe hit the hardest of any fighter he ever knew, even though he was just a month old and 2 years old when the fight with Max took place. Dad was a hard hitter too, but noone could match Joe, even Rocky Marciano knew that, and from what Dad tells me, Rocky didn't want to fight his hero who was way past prime. Certainly, in my dad's opinion (sorry Ali), Joe was the greatest of all time. In my aging parents, this always brings a smile to all our faces when dad talks of Louis; you can see the delight of youth written on his face as he expresses his power in the ring.
