"Report on Alleged Outrages in the South"
![]() There is a book on Google entitled "Report on the Alleged Outrages in the South", written in 1871. It covers an investigation and hearings held by the Senate, about the early days of the Ku Klux Klan and incidences of murders in North Carolina. It's a large volume, 471 pages, but in browsing through it, there is some fascinating testimony, where it gives names & locations and describes the outrages done by the KKK during Reconstruction, so it can prove very interesting for anyone wanting to read more about what was going on at that time and perhaps even find one of their own ancestors may have been a victim of these crimes against humanity.
