I am the family history specialist at a community college. One of the instructors posed a question to me. He asked me:
How many African Americans are two generations from slavery? This person is in his early 70s and his maternal grandfather was born in 1855. That means he was enslaved the first ten years of his life. He lived to be 104, I think he said and he knew his grandfather. He has been wondering for some time how many of us have know our slave ancestors. Is there any research on this or any stats. If so, how would I find it.
