Former Gregory School in Houston Tx
Library a source on local black historyAfrican American Library opens doors to black history
While the Gregory School is no longer full of classrooms or staffed by teachers, the structure at 1300 Victor Street still serves an educational purpose.
The building was transformed into the African American Library at the Gregory School in November 2009, providing a rich resource for researchers interested in the history of blacks in Houston.
The library spent February in celebration of Black History Month with exhibits and presentations. Express Children's Theatre told the story of iconic figures in the Civil Rights era and Houston Ebony Opera Guild hosted a lecture on black choral literature.
