Disposition of Homeless, Poor and Destitute Persons who pass on

The question was asked during my conversation on Blog Talk Radio Monday. I asked a licensed funeral director. He said county governments have a list of Morticians who donate their services on a rotating basis. They claim the body, donate it for mortuary students to learn from, and what is left is usually cremated. "on rare occasions you actually reunite a family with a loved one, but usually they are unclaimed." If a family member comes forward (but cannot pay) the person may be buried.

He didn't say, but I'm sure if a family member comes forward who can pay, the person gets whatever services the family member can pay for.

Thanks for the question.

Karen
