Early Arkansas Black Marriages
From the Little Rock Field office of the Freedman's Bureau: 1864-1868:
The Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands, often became the site where many marriage ceremonies were held. In the state of Arkansas, at the Little Rock Arkansas Freedman's Bureau, was no different. Some of the ceremonies were conducted a early as 1864, well before the war ended but what remains is valuable for genealogists. See link below for more information.
