The Texas Standard: Colored Teachers' Association

This is a nice book I stumbled upon from the website The Portal to Texas History while searching for a relative. From the Library of Prairie View State College in Prairie View, Texas, it lists names of Black Teachers in the state of Texas, not only teachers, but a plethora of blacks of the time that were worth mentioning. It also includes titles of Negro Spirituals of the time and those who sung them.

Very excellent book, this is Vol. 10, Number 4 and dated April 1937. I discovered a son of a great grandaunt was principal of a colored school, which he is listed as such in 1940 census, but I overlooked.

Now I have to go back to my census records and look over those others who I saw that were teachers also.

If Nothing Else, This Book is of Great Historical Importance.
