WILLIE P. CHAPMAN ~OBITUARY~
WILLIE P. CHAPMAN, 83, residing in the Ohio Veterans Home, died early Friday morning, June 7, 2013 in his residence.
Willie was born September 30, 1929 in Coosa County Alabama, son of the late Freddie Chapman, Sr. and the late Hattie (Maxwell) Chapman. He was a graduate of Central High School located in Cleveland, Ohio. Following high school Willie joined the U.S. Army in 1951, where he was stationed in Alaska and obtained the rank of Corporal in the Military Police. Upon leaving military service he pursued a career with the United States Postal Service, where he retired after 33 years. Willie was an avid golfer who played golf into his retirement years, and was a member of the T-Men's Golf Association. Willie listened to Country Western and Rhythm and Blues music. His favorite musician was B.B. King, who inspired him to learn how to play the guitar. Memories of Willie will be carried on through his children, Anna Morgan, Mae Hooker, Tim (Bay), Willie, Dwayne, and Ronald (Mirta); siblings, Otis (Gwendolyn), John (Lillar), Robert L. (Joyce), Freddie, Jr. (Barbara), and Hattie M. Evans; 10 grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services with military honors will be on Friday, June 14, 2013 at 11 A.M. at the Ohio Veterans Home Giffin Chapel, 3416 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Graveside services will be held at 2 P.M. at Highland Park Cemetery, Cleveland. Memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Cleveland or Greater Youngstown Alzheimer's Association s.
