Arthur "Sonny" Lee Burch - (3/28/2013) - RIP
I got one of those dreaded early morning calls. My Uncle Sonny (Arthur Lee Burch) had just passed away. He fought a long fight. Throughout his life we have rushed to the hospital and the doctors have said, "He's not going to make it. Call your clergy." God only knew when. Uncle Sonny was a very strong trooper.
Over the last year I had gotten to know so much about my Uncle. He always remembered your face when you met him. He always asked about the family. I never knew his past occupation until one day he was in the hospital and he was talking about the bricks he saw on the wall outside of his window. He was a bricklayer and he educated me on how those bricks were laid.
I'm surely going to miss my special visits with him. He always made me feel so special and he always appreciated everything. Sometimes he was an encouragement to me just to see those glassy hazel eyes. Although his name was Arthur, he has always been called "Sonny" He made sure that the staff called him Sonny too.
RIP Uncle Sonny. I am so glad that I got to know you even more.
