Our friend, Dr. Deborah Abbott, as a Trustee and very active member of the Ohio Genealogy Society (OGS) is greatly responsible for the OGS having African American Genealogy as the focal point for the Spring Issue of the OGN. Dr. Abbott and the AA committee working with the OGS leadership are doing a tremendous job in promoting AA family History & Genealogy research to the entire genealogy community, not just for Ohio..

So, Thank You!! And looking forward to seeing you at the OGS Conference 25-27 April, 2013 in Cincinnati, Ohio. I'm also looking forward to possibly being of some assistance to the lady researching her Ohio ancestors.

I got my copy of this edition of the News just before my library volunteer genealogy drop-in session on Thursday. Among the 6 people there, was a white woman seeking her ancestors in Ohio that were showing up as mulatto and black on the 1st two post Civil War censuses. Made me look a lot smarter than I really am when I started rattling on about several key record resources in the state. LOL
