Re: Found another African ancestor

This is amazing. I just today came across Rodney Sam's posting from 2005 about him finding his African ancestor who came from the Wolof tribe. While reading how he went about researching the Rideau and Pitre and others to get back to that African ancestor, the names and surnames became more and more familiar. Then I came across "Zenon RIDEAU, a free man of color who eventually founded Palmetto, Louisiana and became one of the most successful people of color in St. Landry Parish." Only last week did I add Zenon Rideau to my half-sister's and half-brother's Comeaux family tree! Wow, who knew that on a happenstance on a lazy afternoon that I would come across such genealogical gold. Thank you so much, Rodney.
