I am curious abuot the names mentioned in your message; I was going through old Estate paperwork for my father's family and in the papers I have, Jean Baptiste Rideau is listed as the grand father of my dad's siblings (Jules, Oscar and Smith Rocio)whose mother was Marie Rideau of Palmetto, La. Marie had three sons with Pierre Rocio. Could we be connected somehow. I live one road over from the Rideau settlement(can throw a rock there). I do know that my father had a nephew who was a Rideau from Palmetto; All of this information was interesting for me to find online.
