Westborough- The Congregational Church of Westborough hosted its fifth annual Celebration of African-American Music in honor of Black History Month Feb. 24. The two-hour concert featured choirs from Worcester, Westborough, and Northborough.
Curtis Richardson, the concert’s director, is the organist at Westborough’s Congregational, and also belongs to the Pleasant Street Seventh Day Adventist church in Worcester. He brought the two groups together when the concert started five years ago, and it has been growing ever since. This year, attendees filled the pews from front to back and listened as the choirs took turns singing together and breaking off into small groups and solos. A number of instrumentalists performed as well, including saxophonists, drummers, and guitar players.
