Hello all,
My husband and I are doing a last-minute research trip to South Carolina (Marlboro and Marion counties in particular). I have done a lot of research online and through microfilms, but I think that if I'm going to find anything more, I need to see what's available in person.

I am wondering if any of you are familiar with research at the state archives, or if you are familiar with researching free black ancestors in South Carolina. Also, if any of you are familiar with Marion or Marlboro counties, I would appreciate any input about researching there as well. I am looking for court documents, tax records, and land records between 1790 and 1870.
