in Family Search email it also said there may be 3-4 weeks before the entire indexed 1940 census will be available.
I would like to suggest IF you can still do the ED search..I could not find family either. There is a section for Townships. They were not a census under the city they lived close to but a different township name. I was a very small black commmunity and still the community is even smaller now. Worth a try.
