Hialeah Racetrack in the 1920’s

Interesting reading in this article as two sisters look for AA families in florida.
********************************************************

Two sisters who are members of the DuBois clan that once lived in Ravenscroft are searching for family members of the 32 African-American men who were hired by their grandfather to help construct the famous Hialeah Racetrack in Florida.

Mary Kelly and her sister, Joyce Pyle, visited Sparta last week to speak with the son of Harvey Gardenhire who had been among the crewmembers hired by their grandfather, John William DuBois.
