Re: Caddo Parish Probate Records
In Response To: Re: Caddo Parish Probate Records
() Dear Terrence, I FOUND HARRIET!!!!!!!!!!!! But not the children - or rather, only one child, named Paul, who is not on your list. Here is the complete list of slaves: Bob, a man of black color aged about 45 years appraised at $1,500.00 Moses, a boy of black color aged about 35 years appraised at $2,000.00 Paul, a boy of black color aged about 40 years appraised at $1,900.00 Harriet, a woman of black color aged about 40 years and her boy child Paul aged about 8 years appraised at $3,500.00 Delia, a girl of black color aged about 13 years appraised at $2,000.00 Francis, a girl of black color aged about 15 years appraised at $2,100.00 Pete, a boy of black color aged about 33 years appraised at $2,000.00 Little Bob, a boy of black color aged about 30 years appraised at $2,500.00 Dick, a boy of black color aged about 15 years appraised at $2,000.00 Martha, a woman of black color aged about 18 years and her child "Briter" [??? - difficult to read] aged 1 year appraised at $2,000.00 *********** Consistent with 19th-Century spelling, it is technically the succession of John Davidson. The slaves were not sold but rather divided among the heirs. I can't quite figure out to whom Harriet went, but she, her son Paul, and the above-mentioned Dick all went together. Terrence, I made you a bunch of copies, but my scanner isn't working and some of the paper is too big for my scanner anyway. Would you mind e-mailing me privately with your physical mailing address, and I shall be happy to send them to you. Hope this helps! And Vicky, thank you so much for your kind words! - Shannon |
