• What do you know of Jim Crow?
Jim Crow was a set of laws and later customs which promoted social separation and segregation. It subjected African-Americans to a lower social caste by creating laws and activities that allowed whites to control the 7 areas of human activity.

• Did you experience Jim Crow in your growing up? Yes "de facto" segregation while visiting family members in Natchez, Mississippi. People knew where to go and where not to go.

• What Jim Crow stories are shared by the grand mothers and grand fathers? My grandparents and parents rarely talked about Jim Crow. I do recall my grandmother telling me that her first husband was murdered and alluding to a lynching.

• How do you include the Jim Crow experience when writing the family history?
I think it is generally understood that African-American family history written anytime between 1880 and 1990 will have some elements of Jim Crow and 'defacto segregation' in the background story.
