Like Art, I remember those train rides well. As a young child I remember the lights flashed on and off and all the AA's had to get up and go to the back when we crossed in to Texas.

I also remember the black and white water fountain in downtown Marshall and the sign that stated Colored served in the back.

Those occasions were the only ones I remember as a child when I went to my mothers birth home. As a military brat we were not privy to that ugliness on the bases we lived on.

I do have experiences on many occasions when Jim died and his sneaky son took his place though.
