When this program WHO DO U THINK U ARE? comes on, and especially in Black History Month, I have noticed more activity from people, talking about their family. To me, it doesn't matter if the program is about more white than black participants, it's about getting the curiosity up. And I always learn something new.
So I say --take advantage of this. Repost your surnames in a different way to ATTRACT the living descendants. Since we work so much with the old records of our peeps, we already know information. They may not. In the body of the postings start from 1920/1930 and give information that will lead up to familiar names, states, even deaths by violent means that happened to someone in your tree. These stories, outlive the good memories and will start someone to wondering who, what, where, why.
I just got a death certificate for an ancestor who's life was taken violently. Now I am trying to find out if there is a newspaper article, in 1944 Tenn, that might have some information about it and maybe some new names. You just never know.
