Our house at the new site but still on the moving truck. That is our backyard to be, looking out at US Highway 67, introducing us to life near a major highway filled with transport trucks before the days of the Interstate Highway system. Before this move, we had quiet nights, no traffic at all, not even foot traffic, hardly even a road.

Now nighttime was when the big trucks really hit the road, truck after truck after truck. There was no sound barrier between us and the highway, not even trees and there was so much noise we thought we'd never sleep.

In a couple of weeks, we'd fall asleep like there were no trucks.

Our house had a tin roof and there is no lullaby better than rain on a tin roof.
