I just returned from assisting my cousin with sorting over 100 years of my family's documentation of their existence in Spokane. I am descended/ related to most of the oldest African American families of Spokane. We have hundreds of pictures dating from 1900-1920 which my cousin and I labeled and scanned as many as possible, since there are only a few of us who can still identify them. There are hundreds of newspaper clippings from the 1920s-1990s. We had a large clan very active in civics and community activities and the articles document this involvement. I told my cousin that this remarkable body of information should be donated to a university or historian. I contacted the University of Washington at Seattle, but he appears to be unfamiliar with our clan. I also emailed Dr Quintard Taylor who IS familiar with, and knew many members of our clan. Can anyone else think of who I can offer this collection to?
