If we genealogists use this terminology consistently, maybe over time the rest of the world will change.

Since I began genealogy, I have always used grandaunt and grandnephew, etc., whereas I never did before.

For me it makes the generations a lot clearer. "My Grandaunt is in the same generation as my Grand mother/father, etc." makes it so much easier to follow the generations.
