I am a collector of American Civil War Artifacts. I have in my posession a belt that is positively identified to a Mr. Casimere Sam. I am thinking that it is possibly the same as mentioned in your post. As He was a member of the 73rd regiment of Colored Troops, and this units service was primarily in Lousianna and western Florida. I believe the belt I have was worn by your ancestor. It is one of my favorite artifacts and i would love to learn more about Mr. Casimere Sam. Any information on him that you could provide wouldbe appreciated.
