My Mother & 1 brother have the dot on their left ear. My mother said that she was told that it was a spiritual mark, & the beholder was said to have wisdom & knowledge. I must admit my mother has always given wisdom & knowledge with love to all she meets.

She is Balanta/Fulani, Mende & Mandinka on her mothers line. Her father is Akan, from Ghana. Two of her sisters were born with a vail over their face, which signifies that they can see into the other world. One of my grand-daughters has this gift also.
