Yes, I have issues with Ancestry.com, too. I found one family in 1870 Attala Co, MS, listed as White but with a black woman living in their household, not as a domestic servant. It caught my eye because it seeemed odd. After reviewing the image, however, I concluded thatt Ancestry.com had mistakenly transcribed the racial designation of M (for Mulatto) next to their names as W (for white).
So now I know that just because I type in a name and the record comes up as a white person/family, scrutinize that image to see if it really is just a flowery "M" for their race, not "W".
