Ancestry.com has Oprah's family tree, but someone else (her relative I guess) had placed a tree there and it went back a little further for Earless/Earlist Lee. This person simply entitled the tree "Oprah". Noooo, it wasn't me (LOL).
But I looked at the ending of that program and saw all those photos of family members she probably had never seen or known the names of. Just wonderful. It's good to know that the technique for pairing up known relatives with slaves' ages and genders on the slave schedules is the same as what I've been doing. Of course, obtaining documents to back up your findings is always good.
Since I know the name of the black church my paternal GF attended in the 1920's and 1930's in MS, I am going to start by writing them and work my way around that area. Hopefully, there are still Dobbins relatives or churchmembers in Hushpuckena who have some information.
