Hi Kym.
Henry was my great-grandfather. He lived in Fisheries Creek rd. Ballina. His wife Elizabeth was an Arakwal woman from Ballina (Bundjalung Aboriginal). It was interesting that the reply you had was inconclusive as to a Henry Roundtree his age being from North Carolina. I have information that this story was 'made up' by my grandad as he wished to disassociate himself from his Aboriginal background. If that is true then Henry might indeed be Aboriginal also, perhaps Niyable from the Evans Head area, Three of Henry's children, Ben, Julia and William all married back into Aboriginal society. Ben married Minnie, a Widjibal woman and he was the secretary of the Australian Aboriginal Progressive Association in 1927. Julia married Clarrie Combo on Cabbage Tree Island, William married Jane McDougall a Darkenjung woman from Kempsey.
I hope that all this is some help (and no shock).
Please contact me so we can yarn up.
