My late father-in-law, Alton Bennett (1907-2001), was also born in Lee County in the town of Beulah, AL. He also had relatives (and perhaps still some living) in the surrounding community including Opelika.

His known family surnames are AKERS, BENNETT, and McCULLOH. I mention them just in case your family recognizes any of them. If so, we'd love to hear from you!
