Richmond to host meeting of Black Episcopalians

More than 200 members of the Union of Black Episcopalians are expected to attend the organization's 38th annual meeting next week in Richmond.
"Practicing Our Faith: Strengthening our Relationship with God and Each Other" will be the theme of the meeting, which will be Monday through Friday at the Omni Richmond Hotel at 100 S. 12th St.
Topics include "State of the Black Church" and "Reconciliation." The group will talk about ways to increase support for the three Episcopal-affiliated black colleges, Saint Paul's in Lawrenceville, Saint Augustine's in Raleigh, N.C., and Voorhees in Denmark, S.C.
[b[The film "Traces of the Trade: A Story from the Deep North" also will be shown. It follows a Rhode Island family's discovery of their genealogy and slave ancestors.
Activities will include a Hip Hop Mass for young people Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 815 E. Grace St..
