Re: Heritage Quest free thru local libraries ?
In Response To: Re: Heritage Quest free thru local libraries ? ()
About a couple years ago, I was on the chat section of Afrigeneas without access to online databases at the time. One of the persons in that chat session suggested that I suggest to my local library to have these services available to the patrons. I followed up and through. Six months ago, the San Francisco Public Library (the Main) started offering Ancestry.com (the library edition) for patrons. The only hitch is that it requires the person to visit the facilities in person. Heritage Quest is also available to patrons and may have come online about the same time. Hertiage Quest through the S.F. Public Library allows for remote access.
I didn't do it by myself, so I am wondering how many patrons does it take to get the ball rolling in the direction of having these services available? I wonder because the S.F. Public Library said that they had several request for these serivces and they listened to make it happen.
