My most interesting discovery is finding out, after 16 years of research, that I had a cousin who had wrote a book on my family history that had participated in a DNA project that resulted in a 25/25 match with a white plantation owner in Alabama named Drury May, and that he had a 20 year relationship with my great-great-great grandmother Louisa (Lightfoot) May. All those years I was searching for the "Mayes" family but it was recorded as "May". I also found that several other family members were incorporators of the Boley Township in Oklahoma and were "Creek Freedmen" present in Oklahoma as early as 1890 when one of my uncle's was born in Ardmore.
