Another twist to "let sleeping dogs lie" is how relatives completely ignore the subject of truth. the fact that we are who we are and nothing can change this fact by any stretch of the imagination. And if this is hard for someone to accept, that is their problem not ours. Still, remaining in denial can aggravate families who have chosen to hide behind lies. For years, my father bless his heart iwho is now deceased suffered all his life with the phrase "let sleeping dogs lie". And he did just that. I believe for the sake of his children he wanted to protect us from knowing someone out there did not want to be associated with their poor relatives. Out of curousity, one of his daughters found it necessary to check into this "big lie". And what was discovered has changed my way of thinking about "let sleeping dogs lie". I am now in the throes of letting it all hang out as the phrase goes.
Its time to wake up the dogs and feed them.
