I think Georgetown was the result of one of the first gentrifications projects in the U.S. In River, Cross My Heart by Breena Clarke, which was an Oprah book club pick, the setting is Georgetown. Even though it is fiction, she evidently did her research and I learned a lot about Black life in the early 1900s.
