I too would say Afrigeneas is my most interesting discovery!
The way that everyone cares so deeply that we will find our ancestors renews my faith.
It is a marvelous feeling as an African American to know that others share your joys and sorrows, especially when finding the last slaveowner. That is so powerful.
By posting at Afrigeneas, I have found 3 beautiful new cousins and their families that have bonded me forever with my ancestors in Rappahannock VA.
Last August we had a Reunion for all of the CLARK,CHINN,CARTER,RICHARDSON,CLIFFIN, DENNIS, ROBERTS family members in the area! My newly found cousin Vanessa made it an extra special time for about 100 of us! As an only child, it is a beautiful thing to find "more family" than you could only dream of.
I had never been to Little Washington VA and it was the thrill of a life time.Of all of my travels, that is the sweetest journey of my life.
To think that I prayed in the church that my grandmother Minnie CLARK and my great great grandmother CASTHERINE, a slave, came to every Sunday. Tears of joy ran down my cheeks when I told the congregation how blessed I was to worship with them that day.
I hosted a 87th birthday party at the INN AT LITTLE WASHINGTON for my mom and my cousins and 4 friends from California joined us for the magnificent event.
God bless Afrigeneas for all the joy that it brings to us and to our ancestors.
Afrigeneas keeps our ancestors smiling down on us all the time!
