Re: What is your most interesting discovery?
In Response To: What is your most interesting discovery? ()
So many interesting discoveries over the years, but I suppose the most interesting one was when, doing research of my ex's family, I found his ancestors living next door to my ancestors in 1880, Halifax County, VA.
Sure, that doesn't sound like much, but consider the following:
2) My parents are from New York and Virginia, his parents are from Texas and Pennsylvania.
3) 126 years ago, his Crawley ancestors lived next door to my Yancey ancestors. The Yanceys remained in Virginia while the majority of Crawleys moved to Pennsylvania.
4) My mother left Virginia, moved to Michigan, where I was born. His mother left Pennsylvania, moved to California (Bay Area), where my ex was born.
5) I moved to California (Bay Area) 20 years ago, and met my ex 13 years ago.
Somehow, despite the disparate paths our families took since 1880, Kenny and I ended up in the same place in time, and, in a way, reunited these two families through our child, David.
Okay, I know that sounds hokey, but for someone who doesn't believe in coincidences, I think it's a REALLY powerful message about how small the universe truly is.
