Interesting Post and I really learned something from the responses.

I've often wondered why there were not "flower girls" that would carefully pick some of the beautiful flowers from the floral displays and give them to the family and friends that may want them.

I attended a Service the other day that had hundreds of floral displays and they were left there to wilt, if only someone had given me just a tiny bloom so that I could cherish it and remember my dear friend.

At that same Service, the daughter had a basket covered in netting. At the end of the grave side service, she told those gathered that it was an Indian Custom to release butterflies over the grave and the family and friends could make a wish and it would come true.

It was extremely touching and beautiful.
