Re: Seabron Fye
In Response To: Seabron Fye ()
You're probably right about Cudjo Fye being Seabron's brother. On 1870 censu Sebern/Seabron is listed with wife Gracie and their children as family #375. Family #376 is Lisbon Fye (Seabron's brother?) and his family. One of Lisbon's sons is named Cudjo, 12 years old. Possibly named after his uncle. What kind of insurrection did Cudjo lead in 1870? Slavery had already been abolished so it couldn't have been to obtain freedom. I'd be interested to know. In 1860 in Jefferson County, GA there are 3 Lowerys listed as slave owners. William S.44, owns 34 slaves. He is listed as a high school teacher. Real est worth 4,200 and personal est worth 24,000. Elizabeth 60, owns 52 slaves. Real est Value 10,000 and personal est worth 38,000. David P. 35, owns 4, personal value 4,000. 1870-Jefferson Cty, GA - Dist 76 Pg 22
Lisbon FYE - Blk 43 B:GA; Bella 30 B:GA; Julian 19 B:GA
(Haven't found these folks on other census yet. Good luck
