If a person is covered under CSRS and receive benfits from CSRS after they retire, when they died do you have report their death to CSRS like SS?

Yep, if a person retired under Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) when they die that death is reported to the CSRS.

One reason is to ensure that the annuity for that person ceases to be distributed. or if they had a Survivors Benefit option that amountwould go to the surviving spouse.
